Hi I’m Meg, a Canadian Certified Counsellor and the face behind Meg Buchanan Counselling.
My approach to therapy is relaxed, real, and rooted in connection, where my first priority is to get to know you on a human level. I take a lot of pride in creating strong therapeutic relationships, and I want you to feel safe to be fully yourself, even if things feel messy or unclear. I care more about honest connections than polished conversations- therapy isn’t something you are supposed to “get right”, the truth is, there is no right way to do this. Whether you’re working through something heavy or just want a space to slow down and explore your inner world, I’m here when you’re ready.
My foundation is interpersonal neurobiology, meaning I pay attention to how the brain and the nervous system are shaped by relationships and experiences throughout life. My work is relational and attachment-based; I believe change happens when we are witnessed in an emotionally attuned relationship and feel safe to explore where patterns may have started.
Starting therapy can feel intimidating. It’s kinda like showing up to a party and realizing you don’t know anyone and forgot to wear shoes. Trust me, I have been there before. Let me be the first to tell you that you don’t need the perfect words or a game plan. You don’t even need to know exactly what you’re feeling. All you need to do is show up :)
